Background
The Danish Defense is a security agency to assist the government and Parliament to promote peace and security. Armed Forces carry out many different tasks such as participation in international operations, contribute to security of Danish territory and the handling of civilian tasks.

The defense solve their tasks by five fundamental values: Integrity, openness, trust, autonomy and accountability.

ProActive has for years worked closely with the Danish Defense and has delivered various web platforms dating back to the Microsoft Content Management Server 2002, Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server to the newest solution for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007).

Challenge
The Danish Defense is a comprehensive organization which consists of several authorities where www.forsvaret.dk serves as a unifying web portal for the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. The challenge for ProActive was to establish a corporate platform that could handle all the websites and intranets within the Danish Defence. It's a very complex solution consisting of more than 12,000 pages and over 40,000 pictures.

Solution
Maintenance and updating of the many pages obviously requires that many content editors can access the site simultaneously which makesgreat demands on the system performance. An absolute criterion for success has been that the solution had to guarantee high performance on both back end and front end. ProActive have met these success criteria with the SharePoint 2007 solution.
